Mr. Wheaton, a certified specialist in workers’ compensation, brings a varied and relevant background to EPS and its practice. Mr. Wheaton worked in both the construction and industrial safety industries prior to becoming a member of the bar. Mr. Wheaton worked for several years as a journeyman carpenter, building both commercial and residential structures. He also worked as an industrial electrician at manufacturing facilities. This work entailed maintenance and repair of high voltage manufacturing equipment along with air compressors and boilers.
Mr. Wheaton received his B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health with emphasis in Environmental Affairs. Thereafter, he worked as Risk Manager for Hughes Network Systems/San Diego and Hughes Network Systems S.A. de C.V. Additional duties included Hughes Corporate compliance auditing of Hughes facilities under Federal and State OSHA and Environmental regulations. Mr. Wheaton was also in charge of Workers’ Compensation and Security for the Hughes San Diego and Baja Mexico facilities.
Subsequent to obtaining his law degree, Mr. Wheaton performed review of technical materials for Hughes for ANSI compliance, prior to his workers’ compensation practice. Mr. Wheaton is a certified specialist in workers’ compensation by the California State Bar, and is also admitted to the Unites States District Court, Southern District. He has defended employers and individuals in civil litigation and in the defense of 132a and Serious and Willful actions. Mr. Wheaton is a certified specialist in workers’ compensation by the California Bar.
Mr. Wheaton is a partner in the firm, working in the firm’s Los Angeles office, handling workers’ compensation defense and subrogation matters.
